Process integration / 11
Receive webhooks. Execute business operations reliably.
An event arrives and needs to trigger an action in the next system. Duplicate delivery, delays or an unavailable target API turn this into an operational process. We develop that workflow with uniquely identified events and verifiable effects.
The starting point
HTTP 200 alone does not prove a business process was executed.
A shop sends an order event. The ERP is temporarily unavailable. Performing all work inside the webhook request can cause a timeout and repeated delivery; acknowledging immediately can lose the order.
We separate verified acceptance from subsequent processing. The sender determines signature format and delivery rules. The integration defines deduplication, retention and what constitutes successful acknowledgment.
What DataSource delivers
Separate receipt, persistence and target actions.
Secure the input
Validate the signature over the original request bytes according to sender documentation. Restrict size, content type and supported event types.
Accept durably
Persist the event in an agreed protected store or queue. Return the appropriate HTTP success response only after successful acceptance.
Process
Use unique IDs, make effects idempotent and verify target responses. Handle permanent failures separately and enable controlled replay.
Technical scenario / Illustrative example
Acknowledge acceptance and track processing separately.
Illustrative payload. eventId and orderId represent different identities. Repeated delivery must not create a new order; successful processing has its own state.
Example data and proposed rules. The actual interfaces and business rules are assessed for your project.

verified → persisted → accepted
worker → effect checked → processed
Error handling, security and operations
Duplicate delivery and partial failures.
Duplicates and crashes
An event ID alone is insufficient if the worker crashes between the target action and acknowledgment. The business effect also needs duplicate protection or target reconciliation.
Ordering
Not every sender guarantees ordering. Versions or the current target state prevent a late event from reverting a newer state.
Replay
Track failure states, corrections and re-execution transparently. Payloads may contain personal data; storage and access are deliberately limited.

Is exactly-once processing guaranteed?
That cannot be promised generally across multiple systems. We plan for repeated delivery and processing whose business effect can be reconciled safely.
Do we always need to store the entire record?
Only the data required for processing and agreed error context. Retention and access are part of the operational design.
What if the sender provides no event ID?
A reliable key may be derived from the resource, version and event type. A simple payload hash is not automatically a unique business event.
For technical clarification
Start with your actual workflow.
Bring sender documentation on signatures, retries and events, anonymized payloads and desired target actions. Known duplicate deliveries help define error handling.
In our initial discussion, we clarify available access, data ownership and a narrowly scoped first data flow. We then agree on scope, responsibilities and commercial terms.
Anonymized examples are enough to get started. Please do not send passwords, tokens or personal data from production systems in your initial inquiry.
Related challenges
Your next connection in context.
REST API integration
Documentation is available and a test request works. Yet everyday operations still produce missing data or duplicate records. DataSource connects your REST API to the actual business process and plans for missing responses as well.
Synchronize orders & status updates
The shop reports payment, the ERP has no order yet and shipping already has a tracking number. We connect these steps with defined states, unique order references and planned recovery.
Automate users & access rights
A new employee needs access to several applications. A team change alters roles, and a departure requires access removal. We connect authoritative personnel data to a controlled process for these changes.
