Automate Proxmox. Control provisioning.
VMs are requested through tickets, cloned manually and then maintained in several lists. We develop a defined provisioning workflow between your request, Proxmox VE and downstream systems.
The starting point
The VM exists. The request is not complete yet.
A new test system needs more than CPU and RAM: a unique VM ID, approved storage, suitable network settings and an inventory entry. A second click after a timeout must not create a second VM.
We review the cluster version, template state, available pools and your team's tasks. Guest configuration, DNS, IP management and backup assignment are separate steps with separate ownership.
What DataSource delivers
Requests and approvals. API and permissions. Provisioning and inventory.
Requests and approvals
Define permitted sizes, target environments and required details. Existing tickets or a portal can trigger the workflow; approvals remain part of the architecture.
API and permissions
Set up narrowly scoped technical access. With separate API token privileges, effective permissions are determined by both user and token permissions.
Provisioning and inventory
Assign templates, VM IDs and resources. Track asynchronous tasks through completion before executing the agreed follow-up actions.

Technical scenario / Illustrative example
One request, one VM, a traceable state.
Illustrative provisioning plan for an approved test system. This is not a directly executable API request. Node, storage and network settings need to match the actual environment.
Example data and proposed rules. The actual interfaces and business rules are assessed for your project.
Error handling, security and operations
Partial failures: validate and operate.
Partial failures
Do not blindly clone an existing VM again after a DNS error. Persist intermediate steps and resume the specific failed part.
Rollback
Delete automatically only under an agreed rule and with clear ownership. Existing production systems and resources owned by others remain protected.
Access
Keep tokens revocable and time-limited. Do not disable certificate validation; coordinate network access and secret management with the infrastructure team.

Proxmox VE · API · Templates · Resources · Task status · Inventory
Can VMs be created entirely without approval?
Technically, this may be possible depending on the environment. For a controlled procedure, we agree on permitted resources, quotas and required approvals.
Are guest installation and a Proxmox task the same thing?
No. A successful hypervisor task does not mean the guest application is ready. Additional checks are defined separately.
Can an existing ticketing system be used?
Yes, where supported access exists. The ticket ID can identify the request; status and responsibilities need to be agreed together.
For technical clarification
Start with your actual workflow.
Prepare the Proxmox version, cluster topology, template concept, desired actions and an anonymized request workflow. Root credentials are not needed for initial clarification.
In our initial discussion, we clarify available access, data ownership and a narrowly scoped first data flow. We then agree on scope, responsibilities and commercial terms.
Project inquiry
What should your Proxmox environment automate?
Briefly describe your current workflow and the desired outcome.
Related challenges

Automate users & access rights
A new employee needs access to several applications. A team change alters roles, and a departure requires access removal. We connect authoritative personnel data to a controlled process for these changes.
Process webhooks reliably
An event arrives and needs to trigger an action in the next system. Duplicate delivery, delays or an unavailable target API turn this into an operational process. We develop that workflow with uniquely identified events and verifiable effects.
Legacy systems & middleware
The legacy system serves its purpose but does not offer the same interfaces as a new application. We examine existing access options and develop narrowly scoped middleware to bridge the differences in a controlled way.
