REST API available. Integration needed.
Documentation is available and a test request works. Yet everyday operations still produce missing data or duplicate records. DataSource connects your REST API to the actual business process and plans for missing responses as well.
The starting point
A successful request is just the beginning.
A portal needs to import customers from an ERP. The systems use different IDs and required fields. The ERP returns paginated results, while the portal limits writes. A manual export hides these differences without resolving them.
Before implementation, we review the supported API version, data volume, freshness requirements and target contract. An OpenAPI document helps; real, anonymized responses and error messages are equally important.
What DataSource delivers
Data contract, access and recovery.
Data contract
Agree on source and target fields, identities, data types and required values. Define rules for missing values and schema changes.
Access and transfer
Implement authentication, permission scope and token renewal according to the API. Account for pagination, timeouts and the ordering of dependent objects.
Recovery
Track transfer progress and external IDs so interrupted runs can resume. Reconcile ambiguous write responses before writing again.
Technical scenario / Illustrative example
Reconcile customers without creating duplicates.
The example shows a proposed target contract. The external customer ID is the business key. Upsert and idempotency mechanisms need to be supported by the target API or implemented in the integration.
Example data and proposed rules. The actual interfaces and business rules are assessed for your project.

Error handling, security and operations
Classify HTTP errors correctly.
Rate limits
For HTTP 429, follow the API requirements and Retry-After where applicable. Plan bounded retries with backoff; persistent validation errors require correction.
Update conflicts
Use ETags or version fields where supported. A record changed in the meantime must not be overwritten with an older state.
Operations
Document correlation IDs, counters and error categories. Tokens and complete payloads containing personal data do not belong in general operational logs.

Can every API perform an upsert?
No. Some provide separate create and update endpoints only. The integration then needs reliable mappings and a procedure for ambiguous results.
Do we need real-time processing?
That depends on the business process. Polling may be sufficient; webhooks are useful when the source reports changes reliably. Reconciliation remains useful for missed events.
What happens when a new API version is released?
We test contracts and representative failure scenarios in a test environment. Deprecation deadlines, migration and fallback procedures are agreed before the production change.
For technical clarification
Start with your actual workflow.
Bring API documentation, version details, anonymized examples, desired direction and freshness requirements. Known limits and field ownership are also helpful.
In our initial discussion, we clarify available access, data ownership and a narrowly scoped first data flow. We then agree on scope, responsibilities and commercial terms.
Project inquiry
Which APIs need to work together?
Briefly describe your current workflow and the desired outcome.
Related challenges
Your next connection in context.
Process webhooks reliably
An event arrives and needs to trigger an action in the next system. Duplicate delivery, delays or an unavailable target API turn this into an operational process. We develop that workflow with uniquely identified events and verifiable effects.
JSON / XML data transformation
The data is technically readable but still rejected. Field names, types or structures do not match the target application. We develop traceable mappings that also handle empty values, edge cases and changes to the source format.
Synchronize data between systems
A customer is updated in the CRM and in the ERP. Which version is authoritative? We design synchronization around business ownership and stable identities so that recurring transfers do not create silent data conflicts.
